M500 Polaroid ID Camera

Now here's something someone other than me could probably do something interesting with...

The Polaroid M500 ID Camera. It comes in a monstrously bulky case with desktop mount, two packs of expired 669 film, and some other metal crap, and a lot of wasted space filled with foam.

Just plug this behemoth into an outlet (or more likely an extension cord because the power cable attached to the camera is only 10 inches long), load up some of that awesome Polaroid film where you have to peel the two sheets apart, and it's time for some action. 

The most unique part is that you can take 4 instant photos on one piece of film. You can set it to take four of the same picture, two pictures of two, or four different pictures. It also has a flash and even a primitive exposure setting system.

I really thought that, other than a Polaroid camera with a few pictures left or maybe the occasional unopened by very expired film pack, I would never come upon a big score of Polaroid film again. They aren't making it anymore. It's all expired as of late 2009. It sells on eBay for a ton. It just wasn't gonna happen.

Then The Jammer sorted what looked to be a box of dusty paperbacks and looky here...

Hot damn! And most of these are two-packs! Were talking, like, 300 or so pictures here. And this was what the stash looked like after The Jammer took his cut. Sure, the film all expired in 2004 so the pictures come up a bit light and yellow, but I'm not complaining.

Again, this isn't technically a Polaroid, but your mom technically isn't a whore because I don't pay her anything. 

Oh yeah. The Kodak Colorburst 100. This camera doesn't have a flash built in so you had to mount one on top like this guy:

And I'm sorry about calling your mom a whore. It's just that all these Polaroid camera posts were making me a bit nutty.

From the manual:

"When you press the shutter button, sonar waves (at frequencies beyond our range of hearing) are sent to the central part of the scene. A built-in computer measures the time it takes the sonar waves to reach the scene and the echo to return. This measurement is used to provide the correct lens setting."

Sonar? Now you talkin' science.

Roid Rage 1, Let There Be Roids

Every day this week I'm going to reveal another addition to our ever-growing collection of Polaroid cameras. Sure, I could just publish all the photos in one blog entry, but I figured I could pad the old post count a bit and keep things rolling all week.

So, the first entry features a 1-2 punch of the beige Polaroid 620 Amigo and Polaroid Onestep Flash with the side rainbow stripe (AKA the Polaroid Rainbow 600).

Damn, Polaroid made a lot of cameras.
